Blog #5 from the sanctuary at Kitten Rescue:
Like sands through the hour glass, (or litter granules through
the pooper scooper) these are the Days of Our Nine Lives…..
Greetings all, Abbey here or as I am sometimes referred to when
someone’s sense of humor is not up to par, Crabby Abbey. I’ll return to that
topic later, but now for some news on the goings ons in the sanctuary. The renovation has started in the Social Room
to make room for the new FeLV area and once that’s complete, the Adoption
Center can be built. So my cohorts on
the other side have banded together, there’s lots of snuggling going on while
they put up with their area undergoing a new design. At least KR brings in the best contractors
who try their best to keep the noise to a minimum and not be too distracted by
our feline cuteness while they try to quickly get the job done.
Over on MY side…. Big things happening, a few home checks for
some of our residents and Parker actually left for his new forever home a
couple of days ago. I am happy for him;
he came in with his brother Zach who passed last year after their human servant
passed. Then Zach passed last summer,
but Parker persevered with his handsome looks and now has a new human servant
to train. Paws crossed for Barley, Tango
and a couple others who have potential interest and home checks happening. More space for me. (Hmmmm…. Is that why the call me Crabby
Abbey?) Oh and some possible interest in Pearlie and Belle, now if they went to
a home together that would be the cat’s meow.
Darby went to foster and I am hoping it’s a foster fail. Not that he wasn’t a dashing panther to have
around, but he was taking attention away from me. Now the problem with Darby who was kind of
the new kingpin leaving, is it left a void.
Enter stage left… Percy.. yes, little Percy has stepped up, winning
hearts over and commanding all the play time.
He won’t even let Batman play and Batman now doesn’t know what to do
with his superhero status. I think Percy
got kicked out and is in the nursery since then. I hear he’s doing better with younger kittens
to play with, lots of energy that panther.
Uncle Mario is out of ISO and back with Bitey-Face, but Bob is still
watching us from ISO. He’s a handsome
little guy. C-Note is doing better,
Simone is getting around but Pumkin, Silver and Champ have the spotlight on
them this week.
Back to me, I don’t really have to have all the attention, but I
do get very upset when someone gets in my enclosure. For example, today, I was in there napping
and minding my own business when first Princess Leia came in and then Oscar of
all cats who is scared of his own shadow, wandered on in. Hello, there is no “Welcome” sign outside my
door… geeesh… The caretakers are making
me crazy too, lately. They keep trying
to get me to eat more, I should maybe listen… but I am a cat. And OMG, they cut my nails far shorter than I
would have liked them and they wonder why I get crabby? - Abbey
